At Waitara Gospel Chapel, we are Christians, who meet together under the name of Christian Brethren. We are a relatively small Assembly of Australians at present, but have people from a range of countries also attending, for example China, Korea, Iran, and Malaysia.
We believe in the living Almighty God, the designer and creator of the Universe and all the things of which the Universe is composed.
We believe God alone is holy and is, in fact, one God in three persons—God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.
We believe God inspired men from all walks of life to write the Bible under His influence, according to His plan and it is our sole authority for doctrine and practice.
We believe that the Bible reveals that God’s plan is for men and women to live together in harmony according to His law. Failure would incur God’s wrath and the penalty of death.
We believe Satan to be a real being, constantly endeavouring to influence men and women for evil and through his work Adam and Eve (and consequently the whole human race) were led into disobedience to God. Being thus overcome with evil, men and women have no hope in themselves of regaining harmony with the Almighty God and are condemned to death.
In order to correct this situation God, in the person of His Son, Jesus Christ, came into this world (being miraculously born of a virgin) and identified Himself with men and women. Being Himself untainted by evil, and in order to meet God’s holy and righteous demands, Jesus gave Himself as a substitute for man, allowing Himself to be put to death by crucifixion.
The Bible records that Jesus returned to life after three days, as He had previously declared, and in the sight of reliable witnesses, ascended into Heaven, from where, the Bible states, He will come again to receive those who have earnestly sought God’s forgiveness and believe that Christ’s work of salvation was indeed on their behalf.
As God is eternal, so also is the soul of man. Everyone, living or dead, will ultimately be called before God for judgement. Christians, that is those who by faith have accepted Jesus Christ as their Saviour and Lord, will enter eternal life and peace; those who choose not to accept Him will be judged and doomed to damnation and death.
IT IS OUR AIM to make known God’s way of salvation through faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, and to encourage those who trust Him to identify themselves with Him by being baptised by full immersion in water and thus signify their allegiance to Him.
IT IS EXPECTED THAT all who claim to be Christians will show evidence of their faith by changed lives and be characterised by their good deeds.
WE RECOGNISE that true Christians are those who are believers in our Lord Jesus Christ and these, regardless of denomination or race, constitute the true Church.
WE WELCOME all those people who honestly desire to investigate and learn the truth about God and His plans for mankind (and for each of us as individuals) – by reading, studying, and meditating upon the Old and New Testament Scriptures contained in the Holy Bible.
